Saw these in Naturellement Paysans today and just had to take a photo.
Here in France at this time mushrooms of all sorts just appear in your garden . . . thing is are they edible? There used to be a service provided by the pharmacies that you could take your mushrooms found whilst out foraging, to be identified for you. This no longer happens, I am imagining there may have been unwanted occurrences of mishaps . . . perhaps!!!
First of all I have never seen mushrooms like this before, and yes I adore mushrooms and was sure they were edible being sold here, however they looked so different so I left them sitting there, now I wished I hadn’t. These had the name of the finder and the location which was Gordes so proudly showing its provenance.
I keep seeing people appearing out of forests with little baskets, bearing mushrooms I am sure at this time of year. I have however yet to find someone knowledgable about mushrooms, who will let me come mushroom hunting with them . . . I live in hope as most people keep their mushroom hunting places secret for a very good reason.
