There is a perfect spot just outside of the main L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue drag just perfect for a refreshing river dip after market day or any other day to be honest. There is good parking and a little walk in, not too far especially if you have shopped for a picnic at the market. Remember always pack a cool box for cooling drinks in Provence, most rental villas will have one, just ask. I always use it whilst shopping in the heat as it is good to dump all your meats, fish, dairy anything that needs to keep chilled till you get home to refrigerate stuff.

The truth is even if you have a pool at your rental villa it is still a lovely, shady cool spot to spend a morning or afternoon. Kids love it, and if you need a coffee you can tuck your skirt or pants up and simply wade across to the cafe to get some take-away.
You can see the cafe just across from this image, it is also another option if you prefer to have a meal there.
They won’t welcome you wet and dripping in swimsuits however, even if wading across to just pick up some hot drinks!

We had a visitor last summer, the mum of a school friend of my grand-daughter’s. She actually much preferred her dips there instead of back home in the pool . . . saying it was her happy place in Provence! I can understand why, the water is always clean, sparklingly clear and cool even in the height of a Provencal summer.
It is usually not crowded, though you will see the kayaks of Kayak Vert Fontaine de Vaucluse go by as they come to the end of their group runs.
Just on entering or exiting L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue look out for a sign that says Camping La Sorguette. The little parking area is just in front of the actual Camping place. Park there and then walk down the little dirt road on the left, then turn left. You will hear the cool inviting sounds of the River Sorgue just up ahead.
The perfect place for a L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue river dip with your friends and family, old and young.
