Whilst there are other closeby beaches, free to access, the beach, organic cafe and restaurant at Léoube, Bormes-les-Mimosas is my happy place, and hands down my favourite. The entrance cost of 12 euros is well worth it for a car load of people to spend a day on a fabulous well managed beach on prime property on this golden piece of the Mediterranean sea.

A beautiful old olive tree right on the beach.
The Léoube beach
The water is turquoise and sometimes there are tiny golden flecks of gold that shimmer all around you in the water as you swim. The sand is a beautiful pale colour the type of fine sand that is perfect for beaches and barefoot. It never gets over-packed with people as there is a cut off of how many cars they will allow in which is perfect if you arrive early enough, but a bummer if you get there too late.

The léoube beach cafe

The Léoube Beach Cafe is a chic beachside experience with stunning ocean views, however the organic menu is limited to a platter of apero type bits, crudité of raw vegetables with a dip, charcuterie and bread, cold drinks, and their own domain wine. A great choice if you are after something light to sustain you till dinner time.
the léoube restaurant
Dining at the main Léoube Beach Restaurant, you will need to book well ahead in advance, as so far I’ve not had that pleasure, though my son has as he visited out of season with some friends. All the produce at the cafe and the restaurant is organic produce from the Léoube estate. He also visited the Domain de Léoube prior to lunch, did a wine tasting and pronounced the Rosé as excellent.

Take a Picnic
We took a picnic last summer which is also an option as there are so many places that do delicious bits already packed for beachside enjoyment. Our favourite was a little ‘Spa’ grocery we stopped at on the way. I was heading in for the usual, salami, parma ham, cornichons, cheese, tomatoes, crisps , baguette.

However, just in the entrance was a little area set up with hot offerings for the beach. I chose the beautiful rare roast bee freshly sliced for me, and a big heap of the little spicy chicken drumsticks. The very best ever beach picnic we’ve ever had and I will be going back to this little which seemed an ordinary little village grocery shop but with this morning’s addition.

Again, go late and you will miss out as there was not a massive amount on offer. I will need to search out this little place though as I did not make a note of the address. But it is on the route from Giens to Léoube so hopefully easy to find again.
So Chic! Creamy white canvas upholstery with sun-drenched wood.

This really is a little bit of paradise right here . . . either end of the beach at Léoube is like below. The middle bit is gloriously sandy and safe for swimming as well as making sand-castles. And if you get there early enough you can nab a shady spot under the pine trees.
