Instead of one big birthday cake I prefer lots of these little Bûches de Noël . . . all quite in order as I am December born so perfectly topical I think!
A bûche is a log in French and the name of the traditional French cake, made to rescreate a wooden log, usually eaten for dessert at Christmas or Noël the word for Christmas in French.
Now, I have never been a cake kind of girl, usually preferring savoury to sweet . . . however I never say no to a bunch of these little Bûches de Nöel from Le Fournil d’Antan in Coustellet.
It has the perfect mix of slightly tart raspberry creamy centre, with a praline crunchy base, and a totally tropical hit of tonka bean flavour !
Other bûche favourites are the chocolate and the pink champagne ones! Adored by all . . . AND sorry they were all eaten up before I could take pics of them. I’ll remember to take photos of the others next time.
