In my early days living here in Provence, this little book was so helpful in so many ways. Most importantly it helped me to understand how the French thought about seasonality in relation to how they ate.
This unique little cookbook offers over 750 recipes, all relatively simple to prepare, they certainly made my everyday life here in France much easier. As well as super simple recipes, there were also some for special occasions with family and friends. For the brave it also includes some of the more complicated great dishes for which French gastronomy is famous.
Its creator, Monique Maine has created two different menus for you each day (lunch and dinner), from 1 January to 31 December. They take into account the season, market supplies and your budget, whatever it may be.
Ok so the thing is it is in French!!! Great for me getting my head around the French food dictionary and cooking terms, and ultimately the grammar which can prove a little trying I can tell you. It will also be useful for any of you with school boy/girl French as many food terms are indeed world-renowned beginning with bon appétit!

It has totally stopped me craving fruit and vegetables out of season, as it seems my tastebuds have been upgraded, and now I can detect the supreme quality between food produce, in season and that that is not. You really can taste the difference, and instead what you end up doing is craving for each season of each item to begin.
This little book helped me to know what was in season, and how to best cook and eat it. The recipes are stripped back clean and simple so really nice and not at all fussy to work with.
